Who I Am
My name is Kathy.

I am an artist. An outsider. A believer in public service. A work in progress.
​
Raised an Air Force brat, I became an expert at plug and play. The public fitting in. The private isolation. I am not much attached to place. My skill set fits readily in a suitcase, able to be applied on both sides of the Atlantic. Well suited to the law. Immersed in your problem; remaining me.

Now I ask:
​
What would life look like if I picked a problem that matters to me – climate change - and applied my skills to it in order of personal priority – artist, anthropologist, attorney?
​
Artist: Spent my childhood drawing. Mainly horses and Disney animations. Set my pencil down at 20 when life became serious. Picked it back up at 70 when life got out of the way. Different subject matter.
​
Anthropologist: Spent my twenties studying anthropology. ABD (All But Dissertation) Brown University. Fieldwork with the 1980 Edward Kennedy Campaign for President with a focus on myth and charisma in American politics. Writer’s block. Topic seems eternally relevant.
Attorney-Solicitor: After thirteen years of not writing my dissertation, my mentors urged me to go to law school. Fordham Law School. Law Review. Order of the Coif. Simpson Thatcher & Bartlett. Solo. First a brief writer. Learned to write to deadline. Then a general counsel. Learned to work a problem to practical effect. International clientele. NY Attorney, IE Solicitor, a smidgen of German.
Work in Progress: I have a sketchbook. Travel brushes. An iPad. A laptop. Twenty-five years of legal experience. An appetite to learn. I am not done yet.
